Khai has over eight years of experience in corporate insolvency and has been involved in successful administrations of many small to medium businesses with turnovers ranging from under $100,000 p.a. to over $20,000,000 p.a. and businesses employing over 300 staff. Khai has extensive experience in managing administrations in a broad range of industries including Retail, Hospitality, Construction, Labour hire, Mining, Professional and Technical Services and Real Estate and Emerging Technology.
Khai has worked on a number of notable engagements in recent years, including:
- Assisting in the trading of a commercial refrigeration business in administration, resulting in a successful restructure through a Deed of Company Arrangement
- Managing the administration of a well-known Australian fashion brand, overseeing the trading and restructuring of the business during the administration, leading to continuation of the company’s business through a Deed of Company Arrangement
- Assisting the Court appointed Receiver of an incorporated association to facilitate a Court ordered meeting to achieve a practical resolution to disputes among members regarding its constitution and disputed transfer of assets by its former executives
- Preparing an expert report as evidence in Court proceedings for a successful termination of liquidation
- Working on the administration of a national retail business and the subsequent liquidation, providing support to litigation and settlement negotiations which ultimately achieved over $1 million in unfair preference recoveries
- Conducting an orderly sale of commercial properties in liquidation
- Overseeing the marketing and sale of more than a dozen investment rental properties in receivership
- Participating in the negotiation of a settlement with a debtor to avoid the sale of personally held property in receivership
- Undertaking complex investigations for recovery of substantial voidable transactions
- Managing the sale campaign for highly specialised intellectual property assets and facilitating a sale to the independent third-party funder of a Deed of Company Arrangement
- Assisting with the adjudication of Proofs of Debt involving complex construction disputes
- Assisting with the public examination of relevant persons in relation to a construction dispute
